Google Ads for landscapers
LocaliQ's landscaping benchmarks are $4.10 per click and $38.47 per lead, with a median search budget of $1,000 a month (data from May 2020 to June 2021). Landscaping clicks were the second cheapest of the eight home trades in the report, so the budget question is mostly about which jobs you want: one-off design and hardscape projects, or recurring lawn care.
Landscaping cost per click and per lead
| Category | Data period | Cost per click | Click-through rate | Conversion rate | Cost per lead | Cost per call |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Landscaping[1] | May 2020 to Jun 2021 | $4.10 | 4.52% | not published | $38.47 | $40.85 |
| Home & Home Improvement[2] | Apr 2025 to Mar 2026 | $8.33 | 6.47% | 8.05% | $90.92 | not published |
Only pools and spas had cheaper clicks than landscaping in LocaliQ's home services report.[1]
Cost drivers for landscapers
- Project size. Patios, retaining walls and full design jobs draw higher bids than mowing.
- Season. Spring brings most of the year's searches, and competition rises with them.
- Idea seekers. Many landscaping searches come from people browsing pictures and plans with no intent to hire.
- Commercial work. Property managers searching for maintenance contracts are fewer but worth more per lead.
A budget for 30 leads a month
A landscaping company with two crews wants 30 leads a month for spring, split between design jobs and maintenance sign-ups.
30 landscaping leads a month
The landscaping figure is the closer match. Expect design and hardscape leads to cost more than the average and mowing leads less. Google can spend up to twice the daily budget on a busy day.[4]
The two budgets differ because the benchmark cost per lead, cost per click and conversion rate are each calculated separately across thousands of campaigns, not taken from one account. Plan for the higher one, then use your own numbers after 30 days.
RunAds plans the campaign at your budget and writes the ads.
Campaign structure for a landscaping company
Split by job size, so a mowing lead and a patio project don't share a budget.
| Campaign | Ad groups | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Design and installs | Landscape design, landscape installation, planting and garden beds | Higher bids. A landscape design page with project photos. |
| Hardscaping | Paver patio, retaining wall, outdoor kitchen, walkway installation | The largest jobs. Use a quote form that asks for project size. |
| Lawn care | Lawn mowing service, lawn care plans, fertilization, aeration | Sell the weekly or seasonal plan. Lower bids. |
| Cleanups | Spring cleanup, fall leaf removal, mulch installation | Seasonal. Turn on a few weeks before each season. |
| Commercial maintenance | Commercial landscaping, HOA landscaping, property maintenance | Only if you take commercial contracts. Separate page and form. |
Keywords to start with
Pair the service with a hiring word ("company", "service", "near me"). Bare terms like "landscaping ideas" bring browsers.

Block the browsers and the people starting their own landscaping business. Add plurals too, since negatives don't match close variants.[3]

Common questions
How much do Google Ads cost for landscapers?
LocaliQ's landscaping data shows $4.10 per click, $38.47 per lead and $40.85 per phone call, from campaigns between May 2020 and June 2021. The 2026 home improvement category is higher at $8.33 per click and $90.92 per lead, because it includes pricier trades such as roofing and remodeling.
How much should a landscaping company spend on Google Ads?
For 30 leads a month, plan on $1,154 at the landscaping figure, or up to $2,728 at the 2026 category figure. The median landscaping advertiser in LocaliQ's data spent $1,000 a month on search.
When should landscapers run Google Ads?
Spring is the main season for design, planting and lawn care sign-ups in most climates. Run maintenance and cleanup campaigns year round if you offer them, and raise budgets a few weeks before spring.
Should I advertise lawn mowing or landscape design?
Advertise both in separate campaigns. Design and hardscape jobs are worth more per lead, so they can carry higher bids. Mowing and maintenance leads are smaller but recur every week of the season.
Can an AI run Google Ads for my landscaping business?
Yes. RunAds is an AI agent that builds the campaigns from your site, writes the ads and watches the account every day. You approve the launch and any budget changes.
