Google Ads for cookware brands

Short answer

Cookware has no benchmark row of its own. The nearest retail category in LocaliQ's 2026 report, shopping and gifts, paid $4.14 a click and $49.40 per conversion. A cookware set or a Dutch oven usually carries an order big enough to cover that; single utensils don't. The searches that buy name a material and a use, such as "carbon steel wok" or "induction safe stainless steel pan".

LocaliQ 2026 Search Advertising Benchmarks, US search campaigns, April 2025 to March 2026. LocaliQ reports cost per lead; for a store, read it as cost per conversion, which can include actions other than purchases. Shopping and Performance Max costs are not broken out.

No public benchmark we could read has a kitchen or cookware row. Shopping and gifts is the nearest retail category. The home and home improvement row is dominated by remodelers and home services, so read it as a ceiling.[1]

What drives cookware cost per sale

  • Material. Stainless, cast iron, carbon steel, enameled and nonstick are separate markets with separate searches. Group them that way.
  • Cooktop compatibility. Induction owners add "induction" to their searches, and a title without it misses them.
  • Price comparisons. The same pan often appears from several sellers in one Shopping result. A GTIN and a competitive offer decide who gets the click.
  • Set versus single piece. A ten-piece set carries the cost of a sale; a lid or a ladle doesn't.
  • Coating claims. Nonstick buyers ask about PTFE and PFAS. Say exactly what the coating is, and only claim what you can prove.

Break-even ROAS for a sample cookware brand

A made-up brand sells stainless and carbon steel pans. The average order is $160 at a 50% gross margin.

Break-even ROAS: 1 / 50%2.00x
Highest CAC on the first order: $160 x 50%$80.00
First-order ROAS at the shopping and gifts cost per conversion: $160 / $49.403.24x
First-order ROAS at the home and home improvement cost per conversion: $160 / $90.921.76x

At the retail benchmark the first order clears break-even comfortably. At the contractor-heavy home row it falls a little short. A single $40 pan at the same margin would need a cost per sale under $20, so accessories should sell as add-ons to the pans and sets that the ads promote.

Feed and title tips for cookware

Merchant Center titles can be up to 150 characters; shoppers usually see 70 or fewer.[2] Submit GTINs where they exist, since products with a GTIN submitted without one may have limited visibility.[3]

  • Order: piece, material, size, then features such as "induction compatible" and "oven safe to 500F".
  • Give the size in inches or quarts. Shoppers search "12 inch skillet" and "5.5 quart dutch oven".
  • For sets, state the piece count and list what's inside in the description.
  • Name the coating precisely (ceramic, PTFE-free, enameled). Vague claims like "non-toxic" invite questions you'll need to answer.
  • List knives by blade type and length, described as kitchen tools.

Cookware seasons and budgets

Kitchen brands have two gifting peaks: wedding season from spring through early fall, and the November to December holiday run, when cookware sets become gifts. January brings a smaller lift from cooking resolutions. Grilling and outdoor cookware peak from May to July.

For a short event such as a Black Friday weekend, a seasonality adjustment tells Smart Bidding to expect a higher conversion rate; Google recommends them for 1 to 7 days.[5]

Kitchen knives and Google's dangerous products policy

Google's Shopping policy restricts knives designed or promoted in modern usage to injure an opponent, such as switchblades and balisongs, along with throwing stars and brass knuckles.[4] Kitchen knives sold for cooking fall outside those examples. What matters is how you describe them: name the blade steel, length and kitchen job, and keep words like tactical, combat and self-defense out of titles, ads and images.

Common questions

How much does Google Ads cost for a cookware brand?

You set the budget. LocaliQ's 2026 search benchmarks have no cookware row. The nearest retail category, shopping, collectibles and gifts, averaged $4.14 per click and $49.40 per conversion; the home and home improvement row ($8.33 a click) is mostly contractors, so it overstates what a kitchen brand pays.

Can I advertise kitchen knives on Google?

Yes, as kitchen tools. Google's Shopping policy restricts knives designed or promoted to injure an opponent, with switchblades and balisongs as examples. A chef's knife sold for cooking is a different product. Keep the copy and images about food prep, and avoid combat, tactical or self-defense language.

What ROAS does a cookware store need?

Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by gross margin, so a 50% margin needs 2.0x. Sets and hero pans usually reach it; a $14 spatula alone won't. Group products by price band and sell the cheap accessories as add-ons to the pans you advertise.

Should cookware listings include GTINs?

Yes, where the product has one. Cookware is often resold by large retailers, and Google says products with a GTIN submitted without one may get limited visibility. Private-label pieces without a GTIN can use your brand and an MPN.

Can RunAds run Google Ads for my kitchen brand?

Yes. RunAds is an AI agent that builds Shopping, Performance Max and Search campaigns from your catalog, writes the ads and watches results every day. Nothing goes live without your approval. Signing up is free.
