Google Ads for jewelry brands

Short answer

LocaliQ groups jewelry with apparel and fashion, and in its 2026 benchmarks that category paid $4.44 a click and $97.51 per conversion on search, with 4.5% of clicks converting. A jewelry brand usually covers that through order value: at a 60% gross margin, a $240 necklace breaks even at a 1.67x ROAS, so the work is in a feed that names the metal, stone and size, and in budgets that follow gifting dates.

No public benchmark we could read at the source has a jewelry-only row, so this table shows LocaliQ's apparel, fashion and jewelry category, which also includes clothing stores.[1] The gifts row is there because a large share of jewelry sales are gifts.

What moves jewelry ROAS on Google

  • Order value. A gold chain at several hundred dollars absorbs a high cost per sale that would sink a $30 pair of earrings. Group products by price band so cheap pieces don't share a budget with expensive ones.
  • Metal and stone in the title. Shoppers search "14k gold huggie earrings" and "lab grown diamond tennis bracelet". If the feed title says "Luna Huggies", the product rarely matches those searches.
  • Lab-grown versus natural. Both groups search differently and convert at different prices. Keep them in separate product groups and ad groups.
  • Gifting dates. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and the holiday run decide most of the year's volume for many brands, and click prices rise with them.
  • Returns and resizing. Rings come back for size more than necklaces do. Judge ROAS on kept revenue where you can.

Break-even ROAS and CAC for a sample jewelry brand

A made-up demi-fine brand sells gold vermeil necklaces with a $240 average order and a 60% gross margin. Before spending, it works out what a first sale can cost.

Break-even ROAS: 1 / 60%1.67x
Highest CAC on the first order: $240 x 60%$144.00
First-order ROAS at the apparel and jewelry cost per conversion: $240 / $97.512.46x

At the category benchmark the first order clears break-even with room to spare, which is why jewelry can afford the expensive apparel clicks. A $45 earring line at the same margin would need a cost per sale under $27, so it belongs in its own campaign with its own target.

Campaign mix for a jewelry store

The feed carries most of the weight: Shopping and Performance Max decide which searches show your pieces, and Search fills the gaps where people type a style or a stone.

Feed and title tips for jewelry

Merchant Center allows titles up to 150 characters, and shoppers usually see the first 70 or fewer, so put the piece type and metal first.[2] Add a GTIN only where the piece has one; products with a GTIN submitted without one may get less visibility.[3]

  • Open with what the shopper typed: piece type, metal, stone. Your collection name goes after.
  • Put karat and plating in the title (14k solid gold, gold vermeil, sterling silver). They change price and intent.
  • State lab-grown or natural for diamonds and gemstones, and carat weight where it applies.
  • Submit chain length, ring size and color as attributes as well as in the title, so each variant can match its own search.
  • Use your own brand in the brand field for private-label pieces, which Merchant Center allows for customized jewelry.

Jewelry seasons and budgets

Most jewelry calendars have three peaks: the two to three weeks before Valentine's Day, the run into Mother's Day, and mid-November to the last order date before Christmas. Engagement rings follow their own curve, with research starting months before the purchase, so bridal campaigns need steadier budgets.

Raise budgets a week before each peak so bidding has time to adjust. For a sale of 1 to 7 days, add a seasonality adjustment to tell Smart Bidding to expect a higher conversion rate; Google says they work less well beyond 14 days, because bidding already accounts for normal seasons.[4]

Common questions

How much does Google Ads cost for a jewelry brand?

You set the budget. For planning, LocaliQ's 2026 search benchmarks put apparel, fashion and jewelry at $4.44 per click and $97.51 per conversion, with 4.5% of clicks converting. Jewelry has no row of its own in that report, and Shopping and Performance Max costs aren't broken out.

What ROAS should a jewelry store aim for on Google?

Start from break-even, which is 1 divided by gross margin. Fine jewelry at a 50% margin needs 2.0x; demi-fine and fashion jewelry at 70% needs about 1.43x. Set a target ROAS above that once the account has a few weeks of purchase data.

Should jewelry products have GTINs in Merchant Center?

If the piece has a manufacturer GTIN, submit it, because Google says products with a GTIN submitted without one may have limited visibility. Most handmade and private-label jewelry has none; in that case submit your brand and an MPN, or set identifier_exists to no.

When should jewelry brands raise Google Ads budgets?

Ahead of Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and the November to December gifting run, and earlier than feels natural, since shoppers comparing engagement rings and gifts start searching weeks before they buy. For a 1 to 7 day sale, a seasonality adjustment tells Smart Bidding to expect the jump.
