Google Ads for fitness equipment brands
There is no fitness equipment row in LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks. The nearest are sports and recreation, at $2.77 a click and $44.26 per conversion, and health and fitness at $6.17 and $67.36, a category made up mostly of gyms. A rack, rower or treadmill sells for hundreds of dollars, so a home gym brand can usually afford those clicks; the risk sits in thin hardware margins and a buying cycle that piles into January.
Fitness equipment costs from the nearest benchmarks
| Category | Data period | Cost per click | Click-through rate | Conversion rate | Cost per conversion |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sports & Recreation[1] | Apr 2025 to Mar 2026 | $2.77 | 8.75% | 7.69% | $44.26 |
| Health & Fitness[1] | Apr 2025 to Mar 2026 | $6.17 | 5.81% | 6.94% | $67.36 |
| All industries[1] | Apr 2025 to Mar 2026 | $5.42 | 6.64% | 8.18% | $66.69 |
LocaliQ has no row for fitness equipment sellers.[1] Health and fitness is made up mostly of gyms and studios selling memberships, and sports and recreation mixes retailers with venues and clubs. Use both as a rough range and replace them with your own cost per purchase after a month.
What moves ROAS for home gym equipment
- Freight and assembly. A 300-pound rack eats margin before ad spend, so break-even ROAS for big pieces sits well above that of bands and mats.
- Spec searches. Buyers type weight capacity, footprint and stack weight ("power rack 1000 lb capacity", "folding treadmill under 30 inches"). Titles that name those specs match those searches.
- Financing. Pieces over $1,000 often sell on monthly payments. If you offer them, say so in the ad and on the product page.
- Brand comparison. Many shoppers search a known brand and compare. Your model names and reviews decide whether they click you instead.
- The January spike. Click prices rise when every brand bids on the same resolution searches.
Break-even ROAS and CAC for a sample home gym brand
A made-up brand sells folding squat racks and adjustable dumbbells with a $650 average order and a 35% gross margin after freight. Here is what one sale can cost.
$650 average order, 35% gross margin
Both results look comfortable, but treat them with care: LocaliQ's conversions include actions short of a purchase, and a $650 rack takes more visits to sell than a gym day pass. Use the $227.50 ceiling as your target CAC and let your own purchase data replace the benchmark.

Campaign mix for a fitness equipment store
Big-ticket pieces and cheap accessories behave like two different businesses on Google, so the mix keeps them apart.
| Campaign | Built from | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Max (feed) | Asset groups for racks and benches, cardio machines, and weights | The main sales campaign. Use images of the piece set up in a garage or spare room so shoppers can judge its size. |
| Standard Shopping, accessories | Bands, mats, collars, grips | Low prices and high margin. A separate campaign keeps cheap items from soaking up the budget meant for racks. |
| Search, brand | Brand name, brand plus model | Shoppers who saw you on YouTube or Meta and come back to buy. Kept apart so it doesn't flatter the other campaigns. |
| Search, non-brand | Product plus spec ("adjustable dumbbells 90 lb", "compact rowing machine") | Exact and phrase match, each ad group sent to its product page. |
| YouTube and Demand Gen | Assembly, workout and space-saving demo videos | Starts in December so viewers know the brand before January searches. Judge it on new customers. |
Feed and title tips for fitness equipment
Titles can run to 150 characters, though shoppers usually see the first 70 or fewer, so the product type and the spec people compare go first.[2] If you resell branded machines, submit the manufacturer GTIN; products with a GTIN submitted without one may get limited visibility.[3]
- Put the comparison spec in the first 70 characters: weight capacity for racks, weight range for dumbbells, top speed and deck size for treadmills.
- Add folded or assembled dimensions. Shoppers with a spare room search for footprint.
- Name the material and gauge for steel equipment (11-gauge steel, 3x3 inch uprights).
- Use product_highlight to list what's in the box, so bundles show their contents.
- Split each weight or color into its own variant so the right one shows for the right search.

Fitness equipment seasons and budgets
The year turns on January. Searches build from Boxing Day and stay high through the first weeks of the year, then taper into spring. Black Friday is the second peak, and many shoppers buy then for a January start. Summer is usually the slowest stretch, a good time to test new creative while clicks are cheaper.
Raise budgets in the last week of December, so bidding has time to adjust. For a Black Friday sale of a few days, a seasonality adjustment tells Smart Bidding to expect a higher conversion rate; Google says they suit events of 1 to 7 days and work less well past 14.[4]

Common questions
How much does Google Ads cost for a fitness equipment brand?
You set the budget. For planning, LocaliQ's 2026 search benchmarks show $2.77 per click and $44.26 per conversion for sports and recreation, and $6.17 and $67.36 for health and fitness. Neither row is equipment-only, and Shopping and Performance Max costs aren't broken out.
What ROAS does a home gym brand need?
Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by gross margin. Count freight and assembly in the margin: a rack that keeps 35% after those costs breaks even at 2.86x, while a mat that keeps 60% breaks even at 1.67x. Give each its own target.
Should fitness equipment run Shopping or Search first?
Shopping or a feed-based Performance Max campaign first, because shoppers compare racks and treadmills on price, footprint and weight capacity, which the product listing shows at a glance. Add non-brand Search for model and spec searches once the feed is clean.
When do fitness equipment sales peak?
Late December through January is the usual peak, with Black Friday close behind. Raise budgets a week or two before each, and use a seasonality adjustment only for a sale of a few days, since Google says Smart Bidding already handles regular seasons.
Can RunAds manage Google Ads for my fitness equipment store?
Yes. RunAds is an AI agent that builds Shopping, Performance Max and Search campaigns from your store, writes the ads and checks the account every day. Nothing launches and no budget changes until you approve it.
